SUMMARY:Stand for Women’s Sports at the Supreme Court
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free\, one-day trip to Washington\, DC on January 13th as we rally on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court during oral arguments in State of West Virginia v. SUMMARY:Politics\, Murder & Spiritual War Event & Livestream
DESCRIPTION:In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s tragic assassination\, many across our nation are asking hard questions: Why did this happen? How should the Church respond? \nWe want to invite you to continue this conversation with us this Sunday\, September 21\, at 6:00 PM in Raleigh. Together with our friends at The King’s Chapel\, we are hosting a free-to-the-public event entitled: “Politics\, Murder & Spiritual War.” \nThis important gathering will explore why Charlie Kirk died\, what his death reveals about the cultural and spiritual battles of our time\, and how Christians are called to stand firm in faith\, hope\, and truth. \nOur panelists will include: \n– Pastor Grant Castleberry: Grant Castleberry is the senior pastor of The King’s Chapel in Raleigh\, North Carolina. His passion is pointing both believers and unbelievers to a God-centered life. Grant completed his undergraduate work at Texas A&M University\, while also serving in the student body elected positions of junior yell leader and then head yell leader his senior year. He holds a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree and a Master of Theology (ThM) degree in Historical Theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville\, KY. Grant is pursuing a PhD at Southern\, writing on Dr. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. Grant was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps upon graduation from Texas A&M in 2007. He served primarily overseas as an air traffic control officer and then as a series commander at Parris Island\, South Carolina\, where he was promoted to the rank of captain. Upon finishing active duty service\, Grant entered full-time gospel ministry in 2011 serving in churches in South Carolina\, Kentucky\, and Texas and serving as as the executive director for the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. The emphasis of Grant’s preaching ministry is on the Christ-centered\, verse-by-verse\, and sequential exposition of the Bible\, experientially applying the Word of God to the Christian life. Grant is also passionate about evangelizing the lost and discipling believers so that they reach maturity in Christ. Grant writes periodically for Tabletalk Magazine and is the author of\, The Honor of God\, published by Ligonier Ministries. Grant has been married to his wife\, GraceAnna\, since 2009\, and they have five children. Check out Grant’s podcast to learn what he’s said about Charlie Kirk recently. \n– Andrew Walker: Dr. Walker serves as Associate Dean in the School of Theology\, and Associate Professor of Christian Ethics and Public Theology. He is also the Director of the Carl F. H. Henry Institute for Evangelical Engagement. Additionally\, he is a fellow in Christian Political Thought at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and serves as the Managing Editor of WORLD Opinions. Walker joined the faculty of Southern Seminary in 2019. His previous appointment was Senior Fellow in Christian Ethics at the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission. He is married to Christian\, and they have three children. He is a member of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville\, Kentucky. He writes regularly for such outlets as National Review\, First Things\, Newsweek\, WORLD Opinions\, The Gospel Coalition\, American Reformer\, and Public Discourse. He’s done additional study through the Witherspoon Institute and the James Madison Program at Princeton University. In 2023\, he was one of the winners of the inaugural “Freedom and Opportunity” academic awards from the Heritage Foundation for his contributions to conservative thought. A sought-after conference speaker and cultural commentator\, Walker researches and writes about the intersection of Christian ethics\, public theology\, and the common good. His academic research interests include natural law theory\, human dignity\, theology of law\, family stability\, church-state studies\, and social conservatism. His analysis and commentary have been cited in such outlets as The New York Times\, Los Angeles Times\, and many others. He teaches courses in the areas of ethics\, biomedical ethics\, sexual ethics\, moral theory\, public theology\, and religion in the public square. He oversees several Doctor of Ministry students and Research Doctoral students as well as serving as the primary program coordinator for Southern’s Ethics and Public Theology concentration. Check out Andrew’s recent article to learn what he’s said about Charlie Kirk recently. \n– Walt Heyer: Walt Heyer was a husband\, father\, and corporate executive who underwent so-called “gender reassignment surgery” at the age of 42\, identifying as a woman for eight years. Through an encounter with Jesus Christ and the support of a loving church\, Walt got his life back (“detransitioned”) and has been restored for over 30 years. Walt Heyer speaks and writes passionately about safeguarding children from experimental intervention (improperly called “gender affirming care”)\, testifying before legislative bodies\, writing 8 books and over 60 articles\, addressing audiences around the world\, and appearing in countless documentaries\, interviews\, and podcasts. Walt serves as Senior Fellow at Family Research Council and his latest book\, Embracing God’s Design\, is co-authored with FRC colleague\, Jennifer Bauwens\, Ph. D. Check out Walt’s recent interview to learn what he’s said about Charlie Kirk recently. \nThe event will be moderated by our Government Affairs Advisor\, Joseph Backholm: Joseph Backholm is Government Affairs Advisor for NC Values. He’s an attorney and combines extensive legal\, political\, and policy experience with a love for the way biblical truth cultivates human flourishing. He also serves as a Senior Fellow for Biblical Worldview at the Family Research Council and is a regular contributor to World Opinions. Previously\, Mr. Backholm served as legal counsel and Director of What Would You Say? at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview where he developed and launched a growing platform that creates short\, animated videos answering common questions about faith and culture. He served as a legislative attorney for three years and spent 10 years as the President and General Counsel of the Family Policy Institute of Washington in Washington State where he managed educational\, legislative\, and electoral operations on behalf of life\, marriage\, religious freedom\, and parental rights. He led three ballot initiatives on marriage and gender privacy. He is a Washington State native who loves travel\, sports\, and whatever his kids are into. Joseph received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and his law degree from Seattle University. He and his wife Brook have four children. \nThis promises to be a timely and hope-filled conversation for the Church and for all believers who want to faithfully live out their calling in a world increasingly hostile to truth. \n📅 When: Sunday\, September 21\, at 6:00 PM\n📍 Where: The King’s Chapel\, 400 Newton Road\, Raleigh\, NC\n💵 Cost: Free and open to the public \nWe hope you will make plans to join us for this crucial evening of truth and clarity.

SUMMARY:Calling All Pastors—Wilson HB805 Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Join NC Values for a free luncheon as we equip pastors\, faith leaders\, and community advocates to stand for life\, family\, and freedom by supporting HB 805—a commonsense pro-family bill that strengthens protections for women and children across North Carolina. \nHB 805 helps ensure: \n– Girls aren’t forced to share sleeping quarters with boys on school trips.\n– Women and children are protected from online sexual exploitation.\n– Parents can opt their kids out of sexually explicit materials.\n– Taxpayer dollars don’t fund gender transitions for inmates.\n– Victims of harmful gender procedures have legal recourse.\n– And most importantly\, our laws define male and female by biology. \nLunch is provided and there’s no cost to attend. \nWe welcome pastors\, elected officials\, human trafficking advocates\, and spouses to this vital gathering. Let’s stand together for the values that help our communities flourish. \nClick here to RSVP today and join us for bold truth (and some good BBQ).

She is now married to Kent Butterfield\, a Reformed Presbyterian pastor in North Carolina\, and is also a mother\, grandmother\, author\, and speaker. \nRaised in liberal Roman Catholic environments and passionate about books and philosophy\, Rosaria embraced feminist philosophy and LGBTQ+ politics in her late twenties\, identifying as a lesbian. She earned her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University (1992) and served in the English department and women’s studies program at Syracuse University from 1992 to 2002\, achieving tenure in 1999. In 1997\, while researching the Religious Right and their perceived hostility toward people like herself\, Rosaria wrote a critical article about The Promise Keepers\, an Evangelical Christian organization for men which opposes same-sex marriage\, and emphasizes marital fidelity and the man as being head of the household. This led to a series of dinners with local Reformed Presbyterian pastor Ken Smith and his wife\, Floy. Their discussions on the Religious Right and the Bible profoundly impacted Rosaria\, who eventually converted to Christianity in 1999 after reading the Bible multiple times under their guidance. \nSince then\, Rosaria has authored multiple books and engages regularly in speaking engagements where she shares about her journey and the transformative work of the Gospel. \nRosaria recently spoke at Liberty University’s 2023 Convocation Ceremony. If you are not familiar with her work and message\, this video wonderfully displays her heart to declare the truth of the Gospel\, and its transformational power. Click here to see her speech. \nWe would hate for you to miss an opportunity to hear from such an incredible woman and champion of your values. If you would like to meet Rosaria yourself\, and celebrate all of our pro-values accomplishments this year\, secure your ticket at ncvalues.org/celebration. \nRegister

SUMMARY:Mama Bear Workshop (Asheville\, NC)
DESCRIPTION:Sending a child to public school does not mean parents forfeit their fundamental right to know and influence what their child is being taught. Parents have long exercised local control over public education to ensure their court-recognized right to oversee their child’s learning and upbringing is respected. Unfortunately\, progressive activists have increasingly used schools as a tool for social change\, often at the expense of parental input. \nJoin us for the Mama Bear Workshop at Radiant Church in Arden\, NC\, where you’ll learn how to protect children from harmful curriculum and ideological indoctrination. Half of all ticket sales will be donated to Samaritan’s Purse to support their efforts in rebuilding Western North Carolina. Doors for coffee and registration open at 9:30am. Lunch will be provided. \nClick here to get your $10 ticket.

SUMMARY:Pro-Life Rally
DESCRIPTION:We have formed an alliance of pro-life groups across the state to stand together in support of SB 20\, “Care for Women\, Children\, and Families Act\,” while Governor Roy Cooper partners with Planned Parenthood for a rally to support his veto. \nPlease JOIN US this coming Saturday\, May 13\, 2023\, to unify our voices to support mothers and preborn babies. \nRecently\, the NC General Assembly passed historic legislation in response to Roe v. Wade being overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court last year! The “Care for Women\, Children\, and Families Act\,” is a much-anticipated pro-life bill designed to save at least 4\,000 unborn precious babies each year from the atrocity of abortion\, and likely thousands more. After months of negotiation\, legislators agreed on a bill to move the 20-week abortion limit back to 12 weeks\, and greatly restrict chemical abortions that are administered by taking two pills. \nRoy Cooper has announced he is vetoing this legislation on Saturday\, and he is holding a rally with Planned Parenthood. He has specifically targeted 4 of our Republican lawmakers to stop the override of his veto. We want to show a clear presence of support for these lawmakers to override the veto and to withstand the pressure from the bullying of Governor Cooper! \nInstructions for Day of: May 13\, 2023 \nRally to be held at 10am in front of the Legislative Building (16 W Jones St\, Raleigh\, NC 27601). see map below with red circle \nA group will be getting there early at 9:30am and meeting in the parking lot to walk over together. see map with yellow circle \nNote the blue circle is where the Cooper/Planned Parenthood rally is being held. \nMallory Finch\, with Those Other Girls\, will be the point person to look for. She will be wearing a pink shirt. \n  \n \nPlease feel empowered to bring signs\, your best pro-life gear\, a positive attitude\, and your phones! We will have multiple speakers to rally the troops. We want to show a large presence of North Carolina Pro-lifers that want to protect the preborn. \nIf you have any questions\, Please feel free to email me\, at courtney@ncvalues.org. \nCourtney Geels\nGrassroots Director\, NC Values \n

SUMMARY:Legislative Days of Pro-life Action Day 2
DESCRIPTION:We are raising the alarm\, and need your help. We urgently call on all pro-life supporters of our coalition to take action that helps us save over 26\,000 babies in North Carolina per year! \nIn the next few days the NC legislature will decide what legislation will be put forward to limit abortion. This decision is being made in Republican caucuses behind closed doors\, and the pro-life movement in North Carolina needs to act NOW\, before a bill is filed. There is much pressure on these lawmakers to present a bill that only makes minimal changes to the current abortion law\, and saves only around 4\,000 babies a year. \nFor the legislature to present a bold pro-life bill that will save over 26\,000 lives a year\, they need to hear from you! A Heartbeat Act that limits abortion when a heartbeat is detected in the pre-born child—about 6 weeks—will make a significant impact by saving the lives of 22\,000 thousand more babies than the 13-week limit being floated in legislative chambers. States like Texas\, Arkansas\, Georgia\, Alabama\, Tennessee\, Kentucky\, South Carolina (although the South Carolina Supreme Court overturned it) and Missouri have passed Heartbeat Acts. Even Governor Ron Desantis in Florida has indicated that he will sign a Heartbeat Act into law. This is a decision that our legislators are deciding right now\, and they need to hear from you as soon and frequently as possible! We are talking about saving real lives. \nAs a result\, we are organizing two important Days of Action on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (February 28th and March 1st). We’re calling on coalition members from all across the state to drive down to Raleigh and join us as we go and visit legislators in person at the General Assembly. Your presence and activism will make a critical difference in whether legislators propose a Heartbeat Act or a 13-week limit on abortion. SUMMARY:Legislative Days of Pro-life Action
If you would like to join us for one of these days\, click here or see the event info below: \n\nWHO: You\, and pro-life supporters all across NC.\nWHAT: Legislation Days of Pro-life Action in Support of the Heartbeat Bill.\nWHERE: 16 West Jones Street\, Raleigh\, NC.
