NC Values Coalition Endorses Michael Whatley for U.S. Senate
Today, the North Carolina Values Coalition is announcing its endorsement of Michael Whatley in North Carolina’s 2026 U.S. Senate race. We are proudly making this endorsement based on Michael Whatley’s commitment to advancing our mission of making North Carolina a state where life is valued, marriage & families flourish, and religious freedom thrives. “Michael Whatley is the right choice for North Carolina because he will fight for the values that put families first,” said Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald. “Roy Cooper’s disastrous record as Governor says it all: He vetoed legislation to allow parents to be involved with their children’s education, to protect the unborn and save survivors of botched abortions, to protect women’s sports, and to prevent children from being mutilated by gender transition procedures. Michael Whatley has pledged to stand up for North Carolina families, women and girls, and children in the Senate, and North Carolina need his leadership in our nation’s capitol.”
In addition to fighting for conservative family values, the safety of North Carolina families is a top priority for Michael Whatley. He has pledged to restore law and order, roll back dangerous and lenient Cooper-era policies, and support our law enforcement officers. This is a stark contrast to Roy Cooper’s history as governor of pushing soft on crime policies like pretrial release and cashless bail, and allowing 3,500 inmates to be released early– some of whom later went on to commit violent crimes.
While he has extensive experience in public service, Michael Whatley has never run for or held public office prior to his 2026 U.S. Senate campaign. He answered the call of President Trump to enter the Senate race after serving as Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and North Carolina Republican Party (NCGOP) as chairman. He worked in the U.S. Department of Energy during the George W. Bush administration, and served as chief of staff for former U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole and as Senate staffer.
