SCHOOL CHOICE BILL ALLOWING EDUCATION DOLLARS TO FOLLOW NC STUDENTS MOVES FORWARD
“Choose Your School, Choose Your Future,” a bill which would empower parents of all income levels to send their children to any school using public education dollars, passed House Education K-12 Committee today. Parents testified at the hearing, detailing how school choice has helped their children flourish, and that vouchers would relieve their financial burdens, and expand opportunities for every child. NC Values Coalition Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald remarked on this bill, HB 823, after its passing.
“NC Values is encouraged to see this vital school choice bill advance so parents can choose the very best school for their children. Parents know best,” said Fitzgerald. “Public schools in our state are failing our children, evidenced by abysmal test scores, violence, rampant indoctrination and pornography in school libraries. If the public school system was doing its job, so many parents would not be anxious to flee the system. This legislation will allow students to reach their full potential instead of being stuck in a school that doesn’t work for them.”
NC Values will hold two Mama Bear Workshops in August to inform the community about school choice options and a presentation on how to identify and combat school indoctrination.
