1. NC VALUES: We endorse pro-life candidates Knott and Weatherman for NC run-off, and Dan Bishop for NC Attorney General

Earlier in the week we released endorsements in two run-off races for the 2024 primary where voters will choose between conservative and moderate candidates in each race on May 14. Brad Knott is running against Kelly Daughtry in the Congressional District 13 contest, and Hal Weatherman is vying for the Lieutenant Governor top spot against Jim O’Neill.

NC Values Coalition also endorsed Congressman Dan Bishop for North Carolina’s Attorney General in this critical Council of State race.

Please make sure you get out and vote in the upcoming May 14th Primary Run-off election for these pro-life conservatives, Knott and Weatherman.

2. YOU’RE INVITED: Join us for a pro-life rally at the US Supreme Court to stand for women’s health and safety

The FDA betrayed women when it removed the in-person doctor visits and ongoing care it originally deemed necessary for the use of abortion drugs. The Supreme Court is now considering whether to require the FDA to honor its duty to protect women’s health and reinstate its safety standards.

You can stand with women harmed by the FDA’s actions—like those featured in this moving video—by joining us for the Women’s Health Matters rally at the end of the month. We’ll be rallying from 8am-12pm on Tuesday, March 26th, at the steps of the United States Supreme Court (1 First Street NE, Washington, D.C., 20543), on the day oral arguments begin for the FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine case.

NC Values Executive Director, Tami Fitzgerald, will be speaking at the event. If you would be interested in driving up with us, let us know by contacting [email protected].

3. TIME: Children Will No Longer Be Able to Access Puberty Blockers at England Clinics

“Children in England will no longer receive puberty blocker prescriptions, the National Health Service (NHS) of England said, confirming that the medicine will only be provided to youth who were taking part in clinical research trials. Children can still receive puberty blockers through some private practices. . . . ‘We have concluded that there is not enough evidence to support the safety or clinical effectiveness of [puberty blockers] to make the treatment routinely available at this time,’ an NHS England policy document released on Tuesday read. The decision comes after a public consultation on the topic, interim policy, and independent review of gender identity services for underage children, the NHS England said.”

Last year, our coalition spearheaded passing a bill in North Carolina that makes it illegal “for a medical professional to perform a surgical gender transition procedure on a minor or to prescribe, provide, or dispense puberty-blocking drugs or cross-sex hormones to a minor.” That bill has been challenged in the court by Lambda Legal and another LGBTQIA+.

4. CAROLINA JOURNAL: Trump and Robinson top their democrat rivals in post primary poll of nc voters

“If North Carolina voters were casting their ballots for president and governor today, the Republican candidates would handily win, according to the latest results from the Carolina Journal poll. Former president Donald Trump secured 45% support compared to 40% for President Joe Biden. In the gubernatorial race, Republican Mark Robinson captured 44% of the vote to Democrat Josh Stein’s 39%. Robinson is the current lieutenant governor and Stein the current attorney general.”

5. CAROLINA JOURNAL: Walker withdraws to join Trump, making McDowell nominee for NC 6th

“Today, former congressman Mark Walker announced that he is ending his bid to represent North Carolina’s 6th congressional district, making Addison McDowell the official Republican nominee.

Walker is withdrawing to accept an offer from former President Donald Trump. Walker is joining Trump’s re-election campaign as director of outreach for faith and minority communities. The announcement comes the morning after Trump officially secured the number of delegates needed to be Republican nomination for the 2024 race for the White House.”

Congratulations to Addison McDowell on his victory.

WEEKLY PRAYER: FREEDOM

LORD, you have blessed us with a spiritual liberty that is so wonderful and beyond description, that it can only be understood through experiencing a life-giving relationship with Christ. However, we also recognize that in your grace, you have blessed our country with a political liberty that enables us to openly proclaim the experience of a life lived in the freedom of the Gospel.

LORD, as individuals and as a nation, may we never take the inalienable right of religious freedom for granted. Right now our country has faced a rapid increase in the number of attacks made against this cherished right. We have seen groups across our public arena increase in boldness and frequency their smears against religious liberty. They claim it is bigotry, when we know it is the security of the greatest of all possible loves.

Be with your people and our country as it continues to protect the constitutional right protected by our nation’s Founders. Be with legislators and the Supreme Court, as they determine through their actions the protection of this particular and fundamental freedom.

“It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)

“For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” (Galatians 5:13)

“Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.” (1 Peter 2:16)

Amen
