“North Carolina’s child obscenity laws make it illegal to disseminate obscene materials to minors. However, the law shields schools and libraries, making them exempt from the prohibition on obscenity. It’s because of these exceptions that activist librarians have been able to stash graphic pornography with erotic content on shelves in youth sections.”

In an opinion for the unanimous three-judge panel written by Judge Barbara Lagoa, the court overturned a lower court order that had enjoined a portion of Alabama’s Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act.”

“Six years after a Michigan city barred a farmer from selling apples and other fruit at an outdoor market because he doesn’t allow same-sex weddings on his property, a federal judge has ruled that the city violated his constitutional right to religious freedom.”
4. REUTERS: South Carolina high court will not reconsider abortion ban decision
“South Carolina’s top court on Tuesday declined to reconsider a recent ruling upholding the state’s ban on abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected, which opponents say will prevent women from terminating pregnancies after about six weeks.
The South Carolina Supreme Court on a 4-1 vote rejected a request by Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers to reconsider its Aug. 23 ruling, which they said left unanswered what constitutes a ‘fetal heartbeat’ under the Republican-backed law.”

LORD, we recognize that you are Sovereign over all creation. We recognize you made man from the dust, and in your mercy, you crowned creation with man and woman made in your image. What a wonder it is that you would bestow upon us this blessing and responsibility!
LORD, may we not take this blessing for granted. We pray that this great responsibility and dignity may motivate us to love You, our neighbors, and our families more. LORD, may we as a culture truly see and believe that children are a blessing from the LORD—born or unborn; able or disabled. All children should have an opportunity to experience the liberty of life. LORD, make us your vehicle to change our culture into one that cherishes and protects life. Keep at the forefront of our minds our responsibilities to respect, cherish, and serve the youngest and oldest in our society.
