1. NC VALUES: Urgent: Ask Senators Burr & Tillis to oppose the “Pathway to Polygamy” Bill

We want to urgently request you contact Senators Burr and Tillis, and ask them to vote against the so-called “Respect for Marriage Act” (HR 8404), or, as we’re calling it, “The Pathway to Polygamy Bill.”

Under the bill, the federal government must acknowledge the legitimacy of ANY marriage validated by a state. The potential passage of a marriage law recognizing polygamy as valid in a liberal state like New York or California would have disastrous implications for North Carolina, and more importantly the institution of marriage as a whole. The impact on tax and welfare provisions alone could be significant, and this says nothing of the threats to our religious liberty.

The bill has already passed the House, and now only needs 10 Republican Senators to vote for it to override a filibuster.

Sadly, Thom Tillis has announced he plans to be one of them.

For these reasons, we are URGENTLY asking you to join us today in using our quick and easy click-to-contact campaign to contact Senator Burr and Tillis, and ask them to truly respect the foundational institution of marriage by voting against HR8404 and its pathway for polygamy.

2. FOX NEWS: Liberal zealots want to cancel mothers, replace them with birthing persons

“Hawley asked the witness if the term, ‘people with a capacity for pregnancy,’ meant ‘women.’ Bridges answered by laying out her position that some non-trans women do not have the capacity for pregnancy, and that some trans men do. But it is what happened next that is not only telling, but also chilling.

With a nervous and condescending laugh, Bridges interrupted the line of questioning to say to Hawley, ‘I want to recognize that your line of questioning is trans phobic. And it opens up trans people to violence by not recognizing them.’ She pointed out high suicide rates for trans people and asked Hawley if he believes men can get pregnant, to which Hawley, echoing the views of most Americans, said ‘no.’”

3. CBS17: NC Atty. Gen. Josh Stein (D) “refusing to do his job,” will not reinstate 20-week abortion ban

“Tami Fitzgerald, executive director of the NC Values Coalition, accused the attorney general of ‘refusing to do his job.’ “I think he’s using this issue as an election issue to help him in his run for governor in two years,” she said. Republican lawmakers have not passed any bills regarding abortion access since last month’s Supreme Court decision, acknowledging that Gov. Roy Cooper (D) would veto them and that Republicans don’t have the support to override him.”

4. THE COLLEGE FIX: Lia Thomas nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

“The University of Pennsylvania named Lia Thomas as one of its two nominees for the National Collegiate Athletic Association 2022 Woman of the Year award, the NCAA announced in a news release Thursday.”

“Despite Thomas’ many accolades, the swimmer’s award-winning performance may have more to do with sex than gender identity.

‘Activists conflate sex and gender in a way that is really confusing,’ Carole Hooven, a Harvard evolutionary biologist and author of a book on testosterone, stated in a May 29 article on Thomas published by The New York Times.

‘There is a large performance gap between healthy normal populations of males and females, and that is driven by testosterone,’ Hooven stated.”

5. FOX NEWS: At least 181 K-12 educators charged with child sex crimes in first half of 2022

“The analysis found that at least 181 have been arrested between January 1 and June 30, which works out to exactly an arrest a day on average. The 181 educators included four principals, 153 teachers, 12 teachers’ aides and 12 substitute teachers.”

WEEKLY PRAYER: OFFICIALS

LORD, you also have instructed us to pray for our governing officials, and we come to you in the spirit of this petition. We pray for our national government and its executive, legislative, and judicial servants. May they indeed be servants unto the people, and govern in a manner that protects liberty and virtue. In the same spirit, we pray for public servants across our state and local governments. May they all heed your mandate in Romans 13:4 to be in positions of authority as “God’s servant” and for the “good” of the public. They govern in what we confess are difficult times. May they plead with you to give them wisdom, and may your grace to govern wisely be poured out on them.

Protect us from the oppression and loss of freedoms that other countries have experienced, and help us to value and preserve freedom, which we know comes only from You.

“I have indeed seen the oppression of my people in Egypt.  I have heard their groaning and have come down to set them free.  Now come, I will send you back to Egypt.” Acts 7:34 (God’s words to Moses)

Amen
