NC VALUES MAKES EARLY ROUND OF ENDORSEMENTS FOR ‘LEGISLATORS OF THE YEAR’

The North Carolina Values Coalition has issued early endorsements for Senator Phil Berger, Representative Neal Jackson, Representative Jennifer Balkcom, and Representative Jonathan Almond. All four legislators received our ‘2025 Legislator of the Year’ award for their unwavering support of legislative initiatives that advance our mission of making North Carolina a state where life is valued, marriage & families flourish, and religious freedom thrives.

NC Values Coalition has endorsed Senator Phil Berger for re-election to NC Senate District 26:

“Over the past decade Senator Berger has consistently partnered with NC Values to fight for pro-life, pro-family, and pro-religious liberty legislation,” said Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald. “In 2025, he led NC Republicans to pass a sweeping pro-family bill into law that affirms the biological reality of sex, protects girls by segregating sleeping quarters by sex in public schools, protects woman and children from sexual exploitation through online pornography, safeguards parental rights in education, ends taxpayer funding of sex-transition procedures, and facilitates medical malpractice lawsuits for victims of experimental gender transition procedures. He has also delivered important pro-life victories for our state including legislation to save babies who survived botched abortion, end eugenics-based abortion, repeal state funding for abortion, implement consent and waiting periods for abortions, add restrictions on abortion drugs, fund pregnancy centers, and reduce the gestational limit for abortion to 12 weeks. Senator Berger has a proven track record of fighting for policies that help families thrive, and we believe his leadership in the State Senate has advanced historic wins for conservative and pro-family values. Voters in District 26 should reward his historic victories with re-election.”

NC Values Coalition has endorsed Rep. Neal Jackson for re-election to House District 78:

“Rep. Neal Jackson is a champion for family values in the NC House, and we wholeheartedly endorse him for re-election,” said Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald. “This year he introduced legislation to safeguard parental rights in education, stop mail-order abortion, prevent the sexual exploitation of women and children, and ensure that parents cannot lose custody of their children simply for raising them according to their biological sex. Rep. Jackson’s record speaks for itself, and we cannot thank him enough for the work he has done to advance life, family, and freedom in our state.”

NC Values Coalition has endorsed Rep. Jennifer Balkcom for re-election to House District 117:

“We are endorsing Rep. Jennifer Balkcom for re-election to the NC House because of her steadfast commitment to advancing family values in our state,” said Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald. “This year Rep. Balkcom was a leader in the successful effort to pass legislation that protects girls in sleeping quarters on public school field trips, prevents sexual exploitation of women and children, and ensures that parents cannot lose custody of their children simply for raising them according to their biological sex. She also fought for parents to have the right to consent for all medical decisions for their children and to stop illegal mail-order abortions. We’ve worked with Rep. Balkcom for three impactful years, and she is a powerful voice for women, children, and families in the NC House.”

NC Values Coalition has endorsed Rep. Jonathan Almond for re-election to House District 73:

“Rep. Jonathan Almond is a strong advocate of family values in North Carolina, and we are excited to endorse him for re-election. This year Rep. Almond introduced successful legislation to facilitate medical malpractice lawsuits for victims of experimental gender transition procedures. This first-of-its kind law will help bring justice to victims who have been permanently harmed and deceived by medical providers. Rep. Almond also advanced legislation to increase parental rights in education, prevent sexual exploitation, protect girls in sleeping quarters on public school field trips, and ensure that parents cannot lose custody of their children simply for raising them according to their biological sex. It is important to retain a bright rising leader like Rep. Almond in the NC House in order to advance family values in our state.”
