NC VALUES APPLAUDS GOVERNOR STEIN SIGNING SB 442 INTO LAW
The NC Values Coalition applauds Governor Stein’s signing Senate Bill 442 into law. The bill shields parents from losing custody of their children or facing prosecution for abuse simply because they do not support gender transition interventions. Parents should never be required by the government to affirm dangerous and unscientific gender transition interventions.
“We are thankful that today Governor Stein signed SB 442 into law, ensuring that our state upholds the fundamental truth that children belong to their parents, not the government,” said Tami Fitzgerald, Executive Director of the NC Values Coalition. “This bill received bipartisan support in the General Assembly, because the vast majority of North Carolinians agree that parents have a right to direct their children’s healthcare, protect their children from harmful gender transition interventions, and raise their children consistent with their beliefs. Now that Governor Stein signed SB 442 into law, North Carolina parents can rest easy knowing that they can exercise their parental rights without fear of the government taking their child away. We’d like to thank Senators Amy Galey, Benton Sawrey, and Jim Burgin for sponsoring this important legislation that will protect family values in our great state.”
