NC VALUES COALITION RESPONDS TO LAWSUIT WHICH ENDANGERS HEALTH OF GENDER CONFUSED MINORS

NC Values Coalition Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald responded today to a lawsuit filed by organizations from DC, California and New York regarding the attempt to overturn the will of NC voters and endanger gender confused youth:

“This legal challenge is based both on outdated research and faulty constitutional arguments and constitutes an attack on the people of North Carolina who have passed a law protecting children from mutilation of their bodies and a lifetime of medical and mental problems.

“The plaintiffs ignore the growing body of evidence showing that these treatments are, in fact, experimental which is why numerous countries in Europe—Sweden, England, Finland, Norway, France—have either banned or severely restricted these treatments for minors.  The benefits do not outweigh the risks to bone development, brain development or higher rates of suicide as compared to non-transitioned individuals; what’s more, 80-90% of children who question their gender, if left alone, will resolve their confusion in favor of their sex by the time they are adults. HB 808 provides children with the opportunity to grow up before making life-altering, permanent medical decisions which will medicalize them for life.

“To date, on three occasions, thus far, the Circuit Courts in the 6th Circuit and the 11th Circuit have refused to find that similar laws are a violation of the 14th Amendment or the Affordable Care Act.”

NC VALUES RESPONDS TO NEW REPORT SHOWING ABORTIONS ARE DOWN AFTER NEW PRO-LIFE LAW

NC Values Coalition Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald responded to new report from Guttmacher Institute showing abortions are down 30% in the state since SB 20 took effect:

“It is great news that the lives of more innocent unborn children are being saved and that the new law appears to be working to keep North Carolina from being a destination for abortion. With increased resources for pregnant women provided by the Care for Women, Children, and Families Act and increased funding to Pregnancy Care Centers, women have more support than ever and a safety-net of care to help them choose life. After Dobbs, abortions in North Carolina were up 37%, so while 30% is an encouraging number, we still need to reduce abortions in North Carolina, as 90% of abortions are done before the twelfth week. North Carolina needs to continue saving the lives of even more unborn babies, while supporting and caring for their mothers.”

NC VALUES COALITION ENDORSES THERESA KNIGHT FOR MOORESVILLE GRADED SCHOOL DISTRICT

North Carolina Values Coalition endorsed Theresa Knight for election to the Mooresville Graded School District.

“We are excited about Theresa Knight’s candidacy to the Mooresville Graded School District because we believe she will put quality, unbiased education first and honor parental rights,” said NC Values Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald. “At a time when school boards across North Carolina are putting political agendas over education, we need to pay attention to school board races and make informed, careful decisions about candidates. NC Values enthusiastically endorses Theresa Knight.”

Because of the significance public education has on future generations and how it’s shaping ideas and values of our culture, NC Values started endorsing school board candidates last year, held school board candidate trainings and Mama Bear Workshops. This August NC Values held Mama Bear workshops in Hickory and Greensboro to teach the public about indoctrination in schools, school choice, and parental rights. NC Values also partners with iVoterGuide, a digital voting guide which provides voters a detailed candidate survey and ratings. This year iVoterGuide is evaluating Mooresville Graded School District, Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District, and Roanoke Rapids School District.

“Our culture is being shaped by the activism in public education, and social conservatives and Christians have a duty to pay attention to their local school boards. NC Values will be endorsing heavily in the 2024 school board elections. We look forward to Theresa Knight being elected to the Mooresville Graded School District this November and encourage our supporters in Iredell County to give her their full support.”
