Today, the General Assembly made the heroic decision to overturn Governor Cooper’s veto of three vital pieces of pro-values legislation! We have been working tirelessly to ensure these bills become law and we couldn’t have done it without all your help.

These bills are now law:

  1. The “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” (H574) protects opportunities for women and girls in athletics by ensuring that women are not forced to compete against biological men on women’s sports teams. This includes all female athletes starting in kindergarten through college/university.
  2. The “Parents Bill of Rights” (S49) creates transparency regarding school curriculum and gives parents rights to object to curriculum, be involved in schools, guarantees parental rights to the medical records of their children and prohibits teaching gender ideology in K-4th grade.
  3. Finally, the “Gender Transition/Minors” bill (H808) prohibits attempting to surgically or hormonally change the biological sex of any child under the age of 18.

It’s a lot of hard work to pass a bill, and our team influences the process every step of the way.  First, we research the issue and draft a bill. Then, we recruit legislators who will sponsor the bill. We develop messaging, create email campaigns, and stir up grassroots support. We hold press conferences when the bill gets filed and do press interviews promoting the bill. We have lobbyists in the General Assembly almost every legislative day of the year. We bring experts and people affected by the issue to the General Assembly to testify.  We host rallies.  Finally, we work hard to get all the votes we need.

We couldn’t have done it without you. After we created our click-to-contact campaigns, you sent thousands of communications to your legislators to ensure that our voices were heard! Many of you also attended General Assembly votes to show support for our legislators and our pro-values bills.

Together, we worked endlessly to ensure the truth on these issues was made available to the people of North Carolina, and that the public’s voice was heard by legislators. All glory and praise to God!

The passage of these three bills brings us to five bills passed with one to go through the efforts of NC Values this year! If you believe in the ongoing pro-values work we are doing, and want to help us continue our legislative momentum, would you consider making a needed one-time or end-of-month donation?

Sincerely,

Tami & Team
